Northern Area
Though currently still developing, the Northern Area has a huge potential for future growth, especially with subway Lines 5 and 10 connected the area to Beijing's city center. The housing market in this area is expected to flourish as a result of these new subway lines. Local residents not only enjoy Ditan Park's greenery, but they also relish the tranquility felt at night when the rest of the city is still bustling.
Accommodation
It is currently difficult to find high-quality accommodation in this area. However, Phoenix Town, Yong He Garden, and Roman Garden are good options. Prices in the Northern Area range from CNY 3,000 to CNY 25,000.
Shopping & Amenities
Though shopping malls are scarce, some mid-range shopping centers are becoming more and more popular in the Northern Area such as Ito Yakodo.
Entertainment & Leisure
Activities in this area comprise of Ditan Park and a few local bars. Because this area is still developing, there is little else to entertain the locals, other than to venture to other parts of Beijing!
Education
Beijing BISS International School is located in the North Area. From September 2008, the French School of Beijing (Lycée Français de Pekin) will have a second location in this area, near Hepingxiqiao subway station.
Transport
Because the city center is more accessible due to the new subway Lines 5 and 10, people are finding this area an attractive location. Currently, traffic is manageable and access to the Third and Fourth Ring Roads is highly convenient.
Health Care
The main international hospital available in the Northern Area of Beijing is the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital.
