The capital of China has a humid continental climate with drastic changes during the hold year, influenced by the Monsoon.
- Spring in Beijing, lasts from March to May and often includes sandstorms from the expanding Gobi Desert. The city is covered with a yellow fog that sometimes leaves everything coated in a thin layer of fine sand.
Average highs are often between 16 °C- 26°C corresponding to 53°F- 79°F.
- Summers are long, hot, and humid with an average temperature in July of 30°C (87°F) but often topping 40°C (104°F) and rarely reaching 50°C (122°F) in August.
Most of the rainy days pass by in these months with precipitations around 1700 mm.
- Autumn reaches temperatures up to 20 °C and down to 10°C and goes by without rain.
- Winters are long too, cold and very dry. They include cold fronts and winds blowing in from Siberia. The average temperature in January is -10°C (14°F).
Humidity is common in Beijing with a low average of approximately 45% in winter and highs of 78% during the summer.
