Looking for a nice place to have a cafe in the Beijing Hutongs ? Go to the Wudaoying Hutong. This is probably the highet concentration of coffee shops in Beijing. The place is nice, close to the Yobghegong Lama Temple and its Tibetan buddhist monks, it is a place of serenity. The area underwent a beautifu renovation these past years and now is without any contest one of the most attractive areas of Beijing.
You can use it as a gate to have a large tour in the Beijing Hutongs, you can visit it and then walks towards east, slowly you ll access the Gulou area, then maybe the Houhai Lake or Nanluoguxiang… Chose a sunny afternoon and do it.
You can as well chose to remain there, since there is quite a few places worth a visit.
Looking for vegetarian food ? Organic food in the Veggie Table is a nice place to go with varied dishes, or it can be pause for a coffee cup. The place is warm and welcoming.
You have a tibetan cafe with some simple and good dishes, decorated with the colors of Tibet, special teas and comfortabel seats.
One of the main addresses of the Street is The Vineyard, with good pub food, pizzas (great toppings and maybe the best base in Beijing, thin, tasty and crispy), burgers and a good selection of wine from around the world. You might have a visit to its little brother, The Stuff’d, just a few meters from there with home brewed beer.
Good Mexican food at Sand Peebles, a gathering place for those in quest for a good taco in Beijing and one of the most famous adresses in the Street.
Two places for live music : the VA Bar with mostly western groups and further in the street an underground place for Beijing rock, the School Bar.
Actually you even have a cat bar there, as well as a Vampire Bar.
For fine dining, try the Saffron, good spanish food in Beijing, with nice tapas and wine.
There is a greek restaurant as well, Argos, and this gives you an idea of the diversity you can find here, among shops, vintage clothes, bicycles repairs.
Th eplace is now a fancy place to live fr Beijing people, with rents that have skyrocketed. Still, you may try to find an apartment to rent in one of the courtyards there, in this peaceful and friendly Hutong.
