How to bring my pet to China?
If you cannot imagine your life without your little pet in China, we explain you how to bring your animals with you. Follow those requirements and see what happen upon your arrival:
First of all, owners need to have a Z-Visa (work visa) to be allowed to import a pet.
You will also need an official certificate of recent rabies vaccination that should be at most 12 months old and have at least 30 days prior to entry.
The entry/exit inspection and quarantine bureau requires almost 30 days quarantine for pets arriving in to the country. Officially, this bureau does not allow expat pet owners to see their animals during quarantine but after this period, owners must bring their pet to a vet for a routine check-up. Under no circumstances should you forget to bring the Vaccination records and Veterinarian Health Certificate of your pet.
Owners in China are required to by law to vaccinate their dogs and cats against rabies annually. You should vaccinate your pet against rabies at an official animal vaccination hospital in China such as International Center for Veterinary Services (ICVS) or the Guan Shang Animal Hospital in Beijing.
After receiving the Animal Health and Immunity Certificate, pet owners must schedule an appointment at the Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau animal hospital. Cats and dogs must be examined no less than 7 days prior to departure date.
The hospital does not make any appointments, so arrive as early as possible if you can and do not forget to bring with you:
-the red book with valid vaccinations
-owners passport
-cash: RMB 600
For exit
All owners must present the health certificate to obtain the Official Animal Certificate for Exit. This can be done at the Entry-Exit and Quarantine Bureau office which is closed during national holidays. The process time takes two business days and permits you 14 days to move out with the animal. It is not necessary to bring your pet to obtain the Exit Certificate. You should bring with you to the office:
-the red vaccination book
-owners passport
-cash: RMB 100
