The Cervantes Institute of Beijing was first opened in 2007 in order to promote Spanish culture and offer the possibility to study the Spanish language to everyone outside Spain. With over 70 centres around the world, the Cervantes in Beijing was the first centre established in China.
The Institute is located in the modern Beijing part of Sanlitun and has a total area of 400 sqm with a library with over 18.000 copies, a cinema, a cafeteria, other multimedia facilities, halls and classrooms for Spanish courses. The library has free access and is open from 11am-6:15pm.
The Cervantes Institute was founded in 1991 in Madrid to promote the knowledge of the Spanish language and the culture of Spain without forgetting all Spanish speaking countries in South America. You will find two centres in Madrid, one in the city centre and the other in Alcala de Henares which was the birthplace of the popular writer Miguel de Cervantes, who gives the name to this official Spanish Institution.
What does The Cervantes Institute offer?
The centre offers a lot of interesting and amazing activities such as film evenings, seminars, debates, acting performances, concerts and several art and crafts exhibitions. Usually all activities revolve around Spanish culture, history and events but always working together with China. The Cervantes Institute cooperates with other Institutes around the world, Spanish companies, public organizations, introducing latest news and trying to bring the Spanish culture closer to everyone.
The Institute also offers Spanish courses and runs the official Spanish Diploma D.E.L.E. which refers to Spanish as a foreign language.
Why study Spanish at The Cervantes Institute?
It is the only official Spanish Institution in Beijing offering Spanish lessons for everyone in different levels, changing from general courses to intensive Spanish lessons.
