If you wish your children to attend BCIS, you can have an appointment with Julie Chiu, of the admission service. You can have a presentation and a tour of the school’s facilities. The school is divided in three main buildings: the elementary school, the middle/high school and a sports complex.
The facilities are high standard and comfortable, for the children and students to feel at ease and be creative. The campus includes more than 50 classrooms, an equipped learning and resource center, music studios, visual arts rooms, a design and technology laboratory and two libraries.
BCIS has a 300-seat theatre and a large indoor sports facility featuring a 6 lane, a 25 metre heated swimming pool, a rock climbing wall. Outdoor sport facilities include a soccer field and a tennis court.
It is advisable you make the tour during the school hours in order to see the children in classes and how they work in classes ranging from 15 to 20 students maximum.
International School in Beijing with the IB Curriculum system
BCIS is one of the few accredited international schools to offer the IB curriculum system. BCIS offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Nursery through grade 5, middle years programme (MYP) for grade 6 through grade 10 and Diploma program (DP) for grade 11 and 12.
As an IB World School, BCIS challenge the students to ask questions, solve problems, learn skills and be creative. The purpose is to provide a world-class education that prepares students of different linguistics, cultural and educational background with the intellectual, social and critical perspectives necessary for university and beyond.
The BCIS Team comprehends people from over 15 different nationalities that have substantial training and experience to teach the IB International curriculum.
Educational technology and Laptop personal ownership
Technology is integrated as an educational tool with state of the art software and hardware in the school. All students in grades 6-12 are required to purchase their own Apple laptop computer, the admission team will give you more details.
An international school with 50 different nationalities and an opening to Chinese students
BCIS is one of the few International Schools in Beijing with the possibility for Chinese students to attend the curriculum.
Around 20% of the children in the school have the Chinese nationality; specially trained teachers provide English language support for students whose primary language is not English. This program enables all non-native English speaking students to integrate as quickly as possible.
